Marc Andreessen’s Opsware gets acquired by HP for $1.6b

July 24th, 2007 | by bgmahesh |

Marc Andreessen is one of the internet legends. He fueled the growth of internet by creating one of the first internet browsers, namely Mosaic while at the University of Illinois. After graduation, Marc co-founded Netscape Communications, and played a critical role in the company’s hypergrowth. Andreessen later became CTO of AOL when the company purchased Netscape in 1999.

Read on his blog that his company Opsware (Operations + Software) got acquired for a cool $1.6b in cash. A well written posting where he thanks everyone who supported him in this venture and most importantly he has a note for the lawyers also ;-)
