Patriotism on the rise? Good show!

Happy Birthday India! Today India is 60 years young. While growing up as a child I remember Independence Day was merely a holiday. You couldn’t see the celebrations anywhere other than the Govt offices (yawn!). One would think hoisting your country’s flag is your birthright. Unfortunately it wasn’t the case in India until 2002. Mr. Naveen Jindal won a seven-year long court battle that enabled all Indians to display our National Flag with honour and pride at their homes, offices and factories on all days of the year.

Age and the entrepreneur

Most of you who have been thru or read about the late 1990s internet boom would agree upon one thing – most entrepreners were young (below 30).  Marc Andreessen was just 24 years when he co-founded Netscape. He has published his analysis of the relationship between  age and entrepreneurship based on a paper written by  a professor of psychology at University of California Davis named Dean Simonto. The paper is researched across many fields – science, literature, music, chess, film, politics, and military combat.  The research was done in the pre-internet boom period.

Villages log on to escape bribery

We have not only inherited English language from the British Raj but also “corruption”. We have learned to live with the system. Unfortunately there are many who are deprived of benefits and services from the Government because they cannot afford to “grease” the officials. It is very frustrating when you cannot get a birth certificate or a death certificate without being harassed.

You get to read a lot about Facebook these days (unless you are in a cave). Articles about My Yahoo! Vs Facebook Vs Orkut Vs xyz have been floating around. Many times we miss out the “basics” of what is being discussed. I bumped into a simple blog Newbie’s guide to Facebook.
