Vicito: Read your RSS in your IM

Vicito

Recently I came across this very neat utility. If you read a lot on the net, like me, you might be subscribing to RSS feeds. It is a pain to keep updating the feeds and check what is new. At times you want to know as and when the feed is getting updated.

Vicito keeps a watch on your feeds and shows the results directly in your messenger - Gtalk and AIM. The following commands can be entered in GTalk/AIM after you add news@vicito.com as a buddy, the following help gives you a good idea on what Vicito can do for you.

list - Shows your current news search phrases and feeds
add - Adds a news search phrase (eg. add real estate)
del - Removes a news search phrase (eg. del stock market)
min - Changes minutes between news updates (eg. min 10)
stories - Sets max stories returned in one update (eg. stories 5)

addfeed - Adds a RSS feed to watch (eg. addfeed DIGG digg.com/rss/index.xml)
delfeed - Removes a currently watched RSS feed (eg. delfeed DIGG)

The cool part was it does Indian language (mainly because they do Unicode).
