Indian politicians could guide their American counterparts

US has been helping itself by helping India to tackle terror (nothing wrong with it, anyone would do the same).  It is time India pays back. India could do that without spending anything!

Recently you must have read about an US ex-Congressman being jailed for 13 years . His crime – for taking bribes of $500,000,  of which $90,000 was kept in a freezer!

In India, has a single politician been sent to jail for taking a bribe? Nops. Look at the latest “Great Jharkhand robbery“. The ex-Chief Minister Madhu Koda has continuously maintained he is “innocent” in the Rs 2,000 crore (little less than $500m) scam. Actually the scam valuation could go as high as Rs 4,000 crore (little less than $1b).

Madhu Koda looked very sick in the hospital. Even after coming out of the hospital he is just refusing to meet the Income Tax officials. At times you get a feeling he is being requested to meet them anywhere – in Delhi or Ranchi (Jharkhand capital). The govt is so desperate to meet the ex-CM. But the ex-CM is happily campaigning for the upcoming elections.

The ex-Congressman could have been guided by our politicians in many ways,

  • How to make more money from scams (not just $500k)?
  • Where to hide the money?  Surely not in the freezer
  • Diversify the money you make.
  • And most importantly – show the US politician how to remain unscathed even after being accused of the scam.

Very good advice for U.S. politicians as they rake in more and more money from the special interests! In Birmingham, AL, USA, a county commissioner pleaded guilty of accepting a bribe for accepting a couple of expensive handbags and some shoes said to be worth $4,300. She would definitely do well to follow the lead of Indian politicians. It is not worth going to jail over a pair of shoes and a couple of handbags! Very amateurish, indeed!
