Commonwealth Games, uncommon expenditure

Commonwealth Games which is scheduled to be held in October 2010 has been in the news for all wrong reasons

• Cost of hosting games in Delhi: Rs 30,000 crore ($1m = approx Rs 5 crore)
• Cost of  opening and closing ceremony Rs 150 crore
• Cost of renting a Blimp (that big balloon) for 3 hours of opening ceremony: Rs 40 crore
• Senior Congress man Mani Shankar Aiyar would like to see the games fail.
• Govt believes they have released a swanky site of Taj Mahal
• Many top sports persons are pulling out of CWG
• India is already planning on bidding for Olympics 2020. We need a 20/20 vision on sports first.
