Silicon Valley companies have started hosting Lunch 2.0. According to WSJ Lunch 2.0 is defined as,

The concept — dubbed Lunch 2.0 by its founders — has grown into a social-networking phenomenon that now draws hundreds of engineers, venture capitalists, and even summer interns to various companies for free meals and conversation.

Wonder when this will catch up in India’s Silicon Valley (still assuming it is Bangalore). I have been to similar events organized by Mobile Monday, I guess they can coin it as Tea 2.0 or Chai 2.0

The Do-Not-Call Registry being put in place for regulating unwanted marketing calls and SMSes may seem like a dampener for mobile marketing firms, but there is a new breed of companies that is actually counting on it. Affle is one of them. The London based mobile technology company collaborated with Bharti Airtel in June to bring its advertising platform SMS 2.0 to India. SMS 2.0 delivers relevant ads to subscribers in their message inbox.

Talk to any school/college going kid and you do hear the “orkut” sound byte often in their conversations. Kids are very internet savvy in India today, but mostly in Tier-I cities. I am waiting to see that kind of growth in Tier-II cities. I heard about Orkut from my teenager kid. Her entire class (may be even school) seems to be on Orkut. So far it has been “clean fun” for them. The definition of “clean fun” varies depending on whom you ask – the parent or the kid. I guess you can call it generation gap.
