Royal ride, Mysore is Mysuru now

Our politicians across all parties are united when it comes to diverting the attention of their citizens. Dharam Singh initiated the change of name of 12 cities and finally it got approved during HDK‘s tenure. Why has the government unnecessarily fiddled around something which was going on smoothly? I guess because they are the government!

Everyone has to change their stationery, sign boards. I wonder if these politicians have a stake in the “ink and paint” industry which will be in high demand in Karnataka. The money could have been spent better in educating the rural kids. By changing the name I don’t think our love and patriotism for Karnataka cities will improve in anyway.

  • This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. How does it matter if one call Bangalore, Bengalooru or bongalooru.

Beurocrats in andhra are much better they bother only about one thing eating tax payers money. They will never bother about forcing people to right sign boards in Telugu or force them to speak in telugu or change name from Hyderabad to Hydherabadu:) just kidding

    Thanks for the info.:)

  • Hello friends,

Changing of city/place names is nothing new. Few examples:
    Bombay-Mumbai
    Madras-Chennai
    Calcutta-Kolkata
and there are many examples even outside India.

So, it is not just unique in Karnataka. Now, the names being used now do not belong to our culture at all and is a symbol of colonisation! So, I strongly support the idea of places returning to their original names. It definitely not going to change anything else. But atleast the change of names indicate a sign towards going back to roots. What do you say?

    Regards
    Harisha

  • Why dont we pull down Taj Mahal, Parliment, and all other Buildings and Bridges that outsiders (British, Mughals) had constructed in India. If Possible rebuild them again (as if we dont have any other work to do).
They might collapse the very next day. Our culture is great but not our politicians. All the money will go into their pockets. we are like idiots (bakara) following whatever they say.Shame on us.

  • bangaluru sounds so silly.. neway.. i guess the country this kind of pubilc sentiment is best not messed with... long live kumaraswamyaaa!!!
