Adding new users to LinkedIn should be friendly as in Twitter, Facebook

The most important social networks for working professionals are LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter (possibly in that order). While LinkedIn is the oldest of the lot I wish they had improved the product a lot more. When a user follows you on Twitter the message is simple, you get a fair idea of who the follower is (they should include the URL of the follower if it exists),

A similar email from LinkedIn doesn’t give any information of the person who is requesting to connect with you. LinkedIn ought to at least include information of the present job of this person,

It is really painful to visit the profile on LinkedIn and then accept/reject it. Very rarely you get an invite from a person whom you know. Also after you accept an invitation to connect it is really painful to “tag” the connection. If you don’t “tag” your connection and have many in your circle at times you don’t know why you are connected with him/her. Tags at least help refresh my memory.

I have whined about this problem earlier. Facebook, Google+ and Twitter make it very easy to add your connections in circles (or tag them).

I am well aware of the many product changes I need to take care of the portals I work with but I have a reason to improve things in batches. After all LinkedIn has the money to make small but important product changes. Isn’t it?
