Mobile handsets and status symbol

During IPL3 we saw many TV ads of mobile handsets, all of them were not so well known to the Indian mobile users (Spice, Lava, Zen, Micromax).

The price of these phones are really attractive. I see a Blackberry type handset from Zen at Rs 3,999.

Just recently one of the manufacturers of these low cost handsets told a private audience that people are interested in their handsets “but” they don’t want the logo to be very visible. People want to give an impression to others that they have a Blackberry and are afraid if actual identity of the manufacturer becomes visible (logo)!
