Bangalore Metro was supposed to have been inaugurated today, which is an auspicious day in Karnataka – Ugadi. I live very close to the upcoming Metro line, it didn’t look ready for inauguration by any stretch of imagination.
Metro has been approaching localities to hire people for various support jobs they have (cleaners, helpers etc). I was trying to find details of those job opening for few people I know. The only job openings the official Metro site has is for engineers. Two points caught my attention,
- Applications will be received on-line only. No paper applications or applications through email etc. will be accepted.
- Knowledge of Kannada is a must. ( The candidate should be able to Read, Speak, Understand and Write in Kannada).
It is good to see the government embracing the internet. The job openings are for engineers, reasonably safe to assume they would have been using the internet. Usually getting an application form for such jobs itself is laborious (standing in queue, giving a bank demand draft, cutting the queue to get the application faster etc).
We Bangaloreans eagerly wait for the Bangalore Metro to start chugging. Happy Ugadi to you all.
Update: I am receiving many emails requesting for information regarding openings in Bangalore Metro.
