Exam time is stressful in India. Re-exams for sure are very very stressful on our children. It is high time tough laws are passed on exam paper leaks.
US undergraduate programs are one of the toughest in the world. Students work very hard to graduate from colleges. It is far from what we see in Hollywood.
Today’s Mint carried an article “Blame it on the system” which was a review of New York Times article “An Open Letter to India’s Graduating Classes“. Both articles are an interesting read and a must for parents+students. While India “produces” a huge number of graduates a very small percentage of these are employable. Many get rejected for academic reasons but majority get rejected for not having the “other essential skills”.
Karnataka lately has been in the news for all wrong reasons (mining, corruption). We residents are tired of non-governance in the state. Every year parents across India eagerly look for the college rankings published by various magazines.
Exam time done. It is important for kids to do something useful during summer holidays. Working with an NGO, learning new skills are the types of things they need to do.
