These days I see some nice ads on mobile sites. When you click on them you don’t see the mobile version of the advertiser’s site but it is the normal web site. Fail.
In 2003, the Department of Telecom (DoT) in India had projected the ten-digit mobile numbers would be meet the needs for 30 long years. As of Feb 2009 India registered a user base of 375.74 million wireless subscribers (GSM, CDMA, WLL(F)).
With 2G being very slow for mobile users in India everyone is talking about 3G. Do we need it?
Last numbers from TRAI for September 2008,
- 10 million mobile users added in Sept (7.69m GSM, 2.34m CDMA)
- Total number of mobile users: 315 m (slurp!). In August the user base was 305.24 m.
- India is the ‘fastest’ growing wireless/mobile market and the second largest market after China.
India’s mobile user base has been growing at such an mouth-watering-impressive pace that it even Google cannot ignore it.
