Yesterday’s report from Facebook suggests that there has been an impressive increase in user base of Facebook users in India – 50% over a year. Some highlights,
- Facebook has 1.11 billion Monthly Active Users (MAU) across the world.
- A whopping 751 million users access Facebook via their mobile device.
- MAU’s in India increased by 50% to 78 million in Q1 2013 compared to Q1 2012 [Jan-Mar]
- The number of users who are accessing Facebook only through their mobile device is on the rise

While all of this sounds good we have to worry about the ‘mental health‘ of Facebook users. Very active users of Facebook tend to complain of loneliness and losing social connections in the offline world.
