Readership of local languages on the net is on the rise

BG Mahesh · June 14, 2007 · 1 Comment

It was good to read about the rise in the interest of Indian languages on the internet,

“The above dichotomy of 59% preferring local language and only 12% visiting the sites and a sharp drop of 30% (42% visiting local language site last years to 12% this year) internet users no more visiting local language website itself explains a demand supply gap. Possibly lack of local language content and applications for preferred internet activities coupled with lack of awareness of local language websites is the culprit.” (The original article on alootechie.net is no longer available)

The observation made in the last part of the para is interesting. People are not aware of the local language portals. I am sure the trend will change.
