Today I was at a hotel in Bangalore waiting for a meeting scheduled to start at 10:30 am. I reached the hotel a little early and decided to check out the bookstore in that hotel. For a Saturday 10:15 am can be considered early hours! I was strolling around the bookstore and I could not take my eyes off what the store manager was browsing – a Hindi website. Nothing that unusual about anyone reading Hindi on the net. The real stuff happened later.
The recent North East exodus in India has been very painful for most (if not all) residents of India. In my city of Bangalore we have many who have migrated from North Eastern India, which is the most ignored part of India. China for sure is waiting for the opportunity to grab all of North East India [read China’s audacity].
Nielsen’s report “Smart and Social: Android Phones in India” highlights the usage of smartphones in India. The two dominant operating systems on the mobile are Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS. For the past one year Android has grown well in India, the main reason being ‘affordable’ Android mobile phones (sub Rs 10,000 / $200) are available.
